I went shopping today. Did lots of other stuff, but mostly shopped around for cosplay stuff.

What I bought today. White and pink for chibi Millerna and the Marlene underskirts. Interfacing for collars and Chid's tunic, should little Alex still be up for cosplay. Yellow and green cotton for Chid's tunic. Seven small white frogs and red Rit dye for the closings on the Marlene bodice. A new seam ripper because I woke up to find that my sibling's dog
ate the old one. A new pair of gloves because my other two pairs are either dirty or used for a senshi costume. A zipper. And, two kinds of neato cheapie lace to hopefully be used for collars. Oh, and a black stretch knit for Hinata's undershirt. I wanted to do much more work on Hinata than I've already done, but I'm having the damnedest time finding supplies.

Akane helped me a lot dying the white frogs red as we watched the season premire of Stargate SG-1. Doesn't it look like Ramen Noodles with too much flavoring?

After they came out, there were more pink than red. This was as expected. I took a red Sharpie to the left one to make the surface reds stronger. As you can see, it helps. The red dye got into the nooks and crannies a marker wouldn't have been able to reach, and the marker made the surface a shade dye couldn't achieve. Everybody wins - Except my red fingers. Damn Sharpie method!

I found this lace a long time ago, but just attached it today. I will never be able to make an Asturian dress exactly as it is on the screen. The way some of the lacey embellishments flow and are attached is just not possible for someone like me. Heck, a professional might have trouble mimicking the style. Anyway, I took it in the spirit and not the literal, I guess. This lace reminded me strongly of the lace edge of top of the gloves I'd never been able figured out how to do years ago when I first made this. Now, I have this. It looks neat, but I still wish I could figure out how to make it look like one continuous piece. Maybe I'll have an epiphany later. Or, I can just blur out the harsh edge in Photoshop. Whatever.
On a side note, my outfit matches my hair in this picture. I'm not sure if that's sad or neat.
I made a decision today.
I will not take any more commissions until I finish remaking my Marlene costume. I have pretty much everything I need to get it to a wearable point in the house right now. I just need time to construct and refine everything. I'm working at a fairly quick pace and am excited to finally get to make something of my own so I don't think it will take
that long. I mean, heck. I didn't get home until late afternoon and I got the gloves and frogs done.
Oh, and I didn't make it to the post office, damnit. Why can't they be open on weekends? I work at a government associated place and
we're open on Saturdays!! Why can't the post office be? Why do they have to close by 6PM? Needless to say I didn't get stuff sent. I'm a terrible commissioner.
